This article is focused on the issue of valuing the teaching profession in Romania as socio-economically relevant, which requires specialized career through the master of teaching degree. Such a program is generically described and two conditions necessary to ensure its quality are highlighted: on the one hand, a domain-specific training coupled with a thorough knowledge of domain-specific didactics and, on the other hand, a teaching practice and learning approaches oriented towards educational research.
