The Leiden manifesto, recently published by Diana Hicks, Paul Wouters, Ludo Waltman, Sarah de Rijcke, and Ismael Rafolsin in the journal Nature, proposes ten „commandments” regarding the use of bibliometrics in evaluating scientific performance. Commented here is the current state of the scientific performance evaluation systems in Romania with respect to the principles laid out in the Leiden Manifesto – pointing out previous efforts complying with its „commandments” and arguing that such trends should be further and more widely supported by the Romanian academic community.
