The article presents the early development of Informatics in Romania emphasizing the role of the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Bucharest related to Computer Science as initiated by Gr. C. Moisil and Solomon Marcus [12], [17], Members of the Romanian Academy, and of the Institute of Atomic Physics of the Romanian Academy related to the first computers designed and built up in the country by Victor Toma, Hon. Member of our Academy [29], [30]; see also [37]. One provides 37 basic references concerning the first years of Informatics in Romania.
