A short history of archaeometrical research in Romania, mainly focused of physics involvement – atomic elemental analysis methods and gamma-irradiation for disinfection, is presented. Some recent examples of studies performed by IFIN-HH specialists are described. A special attention is given to the authentication of the famous gold Dacian bracelets. Some aspects related to the perspectives of the archaeometry in Romania are discussed.
