Based on the analysis of resources and performance of the research & development system of the Republic of Moldova author identifies five key issues. The article contains a description of these issues and actions taken in the last period for their solving as well as the impact of these actions. It is estimated that the priorities established in the strategic documents in the most part are adequate for addressing identified issues, but some of them have been established recently, others wearing a declarative character, without being translated into concrete appropriate actions and coordinated between them.
