In this article I examine the current state of the Romanian academic system and why its modernization is delayed. I explore the potential causes, by taking into account the psycho-cultural profile of the Romania, as compared to the psycho-cultural profile of Western countries. After this critical analysis, suggestions for a rigorous and consistent academic reform are proposed.
