The scientific personality of Negoiţă Dănăilă, his distinguished reputation as a founder and manager of the first Institute of Industrial Chemistry in Romania and the first faculty of chemical engineers in Bucharest, are presented. He devoted his life for the study of the natural resources of Romania, petroleum, salt, coal etc. in order to be developed a national chemical organic and inorganic industry. A honorary member of the Roumanian Academy, he received numerous medals of distinction from Roumanian and foreign governements for his scientific and managerial achievments.
