The present study starts from the hypothesis of a manipulation of the performance indicators of the scientific activity of the journals in the South-East Europe. The performance of the activity of the mentioned journals is analyzed through two extremely important indicators, that are frequently used in the creation of the hierarchies in the academic and/or research scopes, the impact factor (IF) and the relative influence score (RIS). The performed analysis confirms the existence of a very strong influence of the self-citations and of the citations from the same country on the modification of the performance indicators, thus demonstrating a superficial and fictive quality.
